College of Engineering - Poonjar
College of Engineering, Poonjar is established by the Institute of Human Resources Development(IHRD), A Government of Kerala Undertaking. IHRD is a pioneer educational organisation supported by Kerala Government, which has the magnificent track record of facilitating quality technical education in the state, especially in the fields of Electronics and Computer Science. It manages more than 40 institutions all over the state, including Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics, College of Applied Sciences, Regional Centers and Technical Higher Secondary Schools. College of Engineering, Poonjar started its functioning in the academic year 2000-2001. The College is affiliated to the prestigious Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT). Currently the institution offers 4 year B.Tech Degree courses in 3 disciplines, Electronics and Communication Engineering. Computer Science and Engineering. Information Technology. Each branch has an annual intake of 60 students. The admission is purely based on the merit list in the State Common Entrance Test (CET). 10% of the seats are reserved for the NRI candidates. The college has all the required facilities including laboratories to conduct classes in all the semesters of all branches. The college is located on the north eastern side of Kottayam district, the educational capital of Kerala. It is about 50 km away from Kottayam town and is very near to the pilgrim centre Bharananganam and the tourist spots Vagamon and Elaveezha poonchira. Poonjar is well connected to Kottayam and Pala by State Transport and private bus services. Frequent bus services are available from Poonjar to various parts of the State. The nearest Railway station - Kottayam - 50 Kms. Airport- Nedumbasserry International Airport, Kochi - 90 Kms. A group of young and dynamic teachers are working hand in hand to make the students able to face the challenging world outside the campus. They ensure that each student coming out of CEP will be self dependent and self reliable.
