    Born in the temple-town of Guruvayur in Kerala, Unni Menon, a gifted singer and soon become a regular winner at College and University Competitions. The turning point in his 20-year-old Career, however, was the lilting "Puthuvellai Mazhai" in Mani Ratnam's "Roja". His mellifluous Rendition in the Tamil Blockbuster "Minsarakanavu" has won him the Tamilnadu Government's Award for the Best Playback Singer. He has sung in over 500 filims in all south Indian Languages and has to his credit over 500 albums of Devotional and light Music.
