Nellikattu Mana Sreedhareeyam Ayurveda Gaveshana Kendram was founded by the well-acclaimed Nelliakattu Mana, a traditional ‘'Namboothiri' family of Vaidyas (physicians). The history and association of Nelliakattu Mana with Netra Chikitsa goes back to a few centuries . The family is a repository of vast traditional knowledge in Ayurveda handed down through centuries within the family and from the clinical and pharmacological experience gained from years of intensive and dedicated practice of Ayurveda. The celebrated Vaidyas of the Mana of yesteryears include the Late Thrivikraman Namboothiri and his brother Parameswaran Namboothiri. They were renowned for their incomparable clinical expertise and knowledge of pharmacology of traditional medicine. This tradition was passed on to their next generation - Shri. N. P. P. Namboothiri and Shri. N. P. Narayanan Namboothiri. The Ayurvedic physicians of the family today personify a fusion of scientific and technological advancements in modern medicine with traditional knowledge of Ayurveda. They are professionally qualified doctors with many years of intense clinical experience and expertise. They have in fact, created a line of treatment that has proven to be highly effective and beneficial for thousands of patients. Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre, is now setting the pace with the valuable advice of Dr. N. P. P. Namboothiri and the traditional expertise of Sri. N. P. Narayanan Namboothiri, the senior most member of the family. Nelliakattu Mana passes on its traditional knowledge to a modern research facility – Sreedhareeyam Ayurveda Gaveshana Kendram. Doctors, scientists and research scholars examining the traditional knowledge through the perspective of developing formulations and medicines for the modern age will now benefit mankind through the research efforts of Sreedhareeyam. Nellikattu Bhagwathy Temple We strive to maintain and cultivate the hospital into a shrine of hope at Sreedhareeyam, for the large number of patients who seeks cure from their ailments. Fortunately, due to our long history of successes, we have an astounding number of patients coming in daily from the length and breadth of the country, seeking cure These cures have motivated a large number of patients to offer donations to those who are unable to seek help due to financial drawbacks. As an authorized trust, Nelliakkattu Bhagavathi Devaswom Board draws a channel for these interchanges to facilitate a clean and truthful utilization of the funds. The trust was established in the year 1999, with Dr. N P P Namboothiri as its Chairman. Dr. N P P Namboothiri, a renowned eye physician who is also a member of the present generation of the Mana has been a towering pillar in conceptualising this dream. The main objectives of the trust can be briefed as three: Making effective treatments. Renovation of the family temple. Facilitating the treatment of the poor and the downtrodden free of cost.
