    Information Kerala Mission (IKM), the flagship e-governance project of the Government of kerala, is an attempt to strengthen local self-governance through ICT (Information Communication Technologies) applications. It envisages computerising and networking the 1215 local self government institutions in Kerala. It is the largest and most comprehensive local body computerisation project in the country. It addresses the entire gamut of issues concerning local body governance, decentralised planning, and local economic development.IKM envisages a phased transformation of the existing systems to electronic systems. It has developed methodologies that suit this purpose. IKM has adopted a human-centred approach to e-governance. This approach is characterised by the holistic and proactive evaluation of existing systems and legacy systems, attempts to simplify and transform existing systems and effecting integration of systems. Systematic attempts at process reforms are also part of it. These would enable faster and objective decision-making, more citizen-friendly interfaces and better accountability.

    The State Planning Board was first constituted in this State in September 1967 with Chief Minister as Chairman and a non-official as part time Vice-Chairman.Apart from minister for Finance and Chief Secretary to the Government there were three other fulltime members.The Director,Bureau of Economics and Statistics was Member Secretary.The Board was formed with a view to enabling the State Governmrnt to formulate development plans based on a scientific assessment of the resources of the State and the growth priorities.the board was assigned the task of preparing the Annual Economic Review to be presented along with the Budget Document to the State legislature.This item continues tobe a regular activity of the board.
